Evolution Of Skate clothing
One of the street clothing style that s recently gaining popularity is the skate clothing. Although usually seen only in skaters, this clothing style has had a tremendous impact even for those who are not really skaters.
Skate boarding is one of the most popular extreme sports in the world today. What used to be an underground activity shunned by the main stream world is now a famous sport that has taken the world by storm. Many movies have also started show casing skateboarding as one of the coolest sports. The biggest success that the skateboard industry has seen is when the skate clothing shops turned into huge branded shops in the fashion industry.
Skateboarders usually mix along with the Hip Hop culture since, just like Hip Hop, they were fighting to make themselves heard for a long time. There are skate clothing stores that have taken the place of big fashion designers indulging in traditional clothes. Many of the sporting brands have started to take the Hip Hop culture seriously and have started to design their clothes with the skateboarding as well as other types of customers.
Skate clothing is usually combines comfort and style. As opposed to what most people know, skate clothes actually do not include torn jeans and worn out shoes. They are usually made up of clothes that allow the skater to perform various tricks by not limiting their movement.
Skate clothing is said to have been inspired by surf clothes. It started out as simple shirts and bottoms that one can wear everyday, and slowly graduating to self-expression and resistance of norms as evidenced by baggy jeans and dark colors. With all the standing out those skaters have originally aimed for, skate clothing has now actually become the norm for the youth.
Though many people believe that skate clothing, or any type of street clothing for that matter, might not be able to last for very long, designers believe that the affordability and the style that these clothes radiate, has helped to make a big impression with everyone. It would definitely take a long time before a new clothing style will take over street clothing.
